Going on a trip

Pappa, Mummy, me and my sister went on a trip.

we went to velankanni, it was not planned, but amma had a nercha for several years, so we thought we might as well  go

it has become all commercialised and it is a good example of religious integration ;)
they have tonsuring the head like palani n tirupati,( I wanted to do it but nobody let me),
they have tying knots to fulfill wishes like sufi dargahs,( I did that when I had gone to fatehpur sikri)

I had the best tea of  my life, it was made of buffallo milk, I had two cups and I still wanted more :)

then we were driving through rural thanjavur, we had pananonku.
Every field has a shrine to protect the crops, it was a nice sight,
then we saw rice sacks piled up over large areas, apparently they are FCI storage areas where good rice rots before it reaches ration shops, that was sad.

In the towns, every nook has sweet shops, it was like being in delhi. I dont know why we dont have that in kerala, we have chayakadas, thattukadas and bakeries but no sweet shops.

u should see the amount of stuff people carry on bikes, I was amazed, carrying myself on one was itself so difficult for me

they have wonderful highways but too many toll booths, every 50km or so.
very difficult to find your way among rural roads though... no sign boards, nobody knows the way, and people know only tamil.

we saw a place full of windmills, they are so huge, I had no idea !!

women are very industrious, u can see them everywhere, in the fields, markets ...they drive the economy

there are so many churches, I didnt expect to see so many.
it seems nagercoil was the first christian majority district in south india, I thought it must have been some place in kerala!!

oh...and we saw something funny :)
patti in tamil means a big village ..
these were the sign boards we saw along the highway... puzhuttipatti... varnapatti...surapatti...pottapatti ...piranpatti...kumutrampatti ...kottampatti ...ambalakaranpatti ...manapatti ...attapatti ...chettiarpatti ..koothappanpatti ...malayalathanpatti
it was a source of joke for us ..we had a hearty laugh for sometime :)

i learned some tamil

kudi=small village, nagaram=town, puram=fort, ur=distant village

then I had proper idly, uthappam and filter coffee from a wayside small hotel at madurai, It was really good :) I thought I had come so far, cant go back without having idly :

It was a long time since we had done something fun, and I loved it :)
